TL;DR: We built AI voice agents that automate insurance calls for healthcare billing teams. Fine-tuned on a dataset of over 1.2M call transcripts, our voice agents can handle insurance calls regarding claim-status inquiries, A/R recovery, and appeals follow-up.
🚨 The Problem
Every week, U.S. healthcare billing teams make tens of millions of calls to insurance companies to get claims paid.
Each one averages 25 minutes. That’s how hospitals unlock part of the $260B in denied or delayed payments every year.
But there’s a bottleneck:

⚡ Our Progress
To date, LunaBill has automated 60,000+ insurance calls, saving billing teams over 20,000 hours and recovering $30M+ in payments that would otherwise be lost.
Billers now can complete 300+ claim follow-ups per day — up from about 25/day before LunaBill, a ~12x productivity improvement.
LunaBill has partnered with top healthcare systems and three of the biggest enterprise billing companies across the country.

- Suhail Parry (CEO) — 2x founder, led billing ops for 200+ clinics.
- David Day (CTO) — Former UCSF data scientist, founded Skiesoft, an AI medical scribe used by 120,000 clinicians.
- Yash Raj (COO) — Built AI consumer apps (10K+ users) and worked at Mayo Clinic on clinical AI research.
We first met at the Berkeley AI Hackathon, where we built an AI nurse. A few months later, we teamed up to tackle the biggest operational pain point we’d all lived through: insurance phone calls.
