AI-powered content creation infrastructure for apps

Unlayer helps companies add AI-powered content creation into their products without building it from scratch. Developers can embed visual builders for emails, pages, popups, and documents, then connect them to AI agents, templates, asset storage, exports, and APIs. We give teams the building blocks to let users and AI workflows create, edit, personalize, translate, and ship content directly inside their own product.

Elements by Unlayer - Open-source React components for emails, pages, and PDFs
See original launch post

TL;DR: We’re launching Unlayer Elements, an open-source React content layer that lets developers and AI agents create emails, web pages, and PDFs from the same codebase. Write once in React, render everywhere.

Today, we’re launching something new and open source:

Unlayer Elements

An open-source React content layer for developers and AI agents to create emails, web pages, and PDFs from the same codebase.

The Problem

Every SaaS product eventually needs content creation.

At first, it’s just one transactional email.

Then it becomes welcome emails, password resets, receipts, invoices, reports, landing pages, PDFs, internal templates, previews, exports, and visual editing.

Most teams end up maintaining separate systems for each output:

  • one system for email templates
  • one system for web pages
  • one system for PDFs
  • one system for visual editing
  • one system for exports

The content is often similar, but the implementation is different.

This becomes even more important now that AI agents are generating more code and content. Agents can create fast, but teams still need the output to be structured, reusable, version-controlled, and production-ready.

What We Built

We built Unlayer Elements: open-source React components for creating emails, web pages, and PDFs from the same codebase.

Developers can use familiar components like:

  • <Email>
  • <Page>
  • <Document>
  • <Row>
  • <Column>
  • <Heading>
  • <Paragraph>
  • <Button>
  • <Image>
  • <Custom>

Each output mode is tuned for where the content will live:

  • <Email> renders email-safe table HTML
  • <Page> renders responsive web HTML
  • <Document> renders print-ready HTML for PDFs and documents

Same component system. Different surfaces.

A few examples of what you can build:

  • Transactional emails
  • Landing pages
  • Web versions of emails
  • Invoices
  • Receipts
  • Reports
  • Internal template galleries
  • PDF documents
  • AI-generated content flows

Elements also connects with the broader Unlayer platform. Developers can define content structure in code, and when visual editing is needed, teams can bring that work into Unlayer’s Builder so marketers, admins, or end users can edit without touching code.

Our Ask

We’re open sourcing this early because we want feedback from people building with React, Next.js, email, PDFs, templates, and AI-generated content.

We’d love for you to:

  1. Try it and tell us what feels useful or missing.
  2. Star the GitHub repo if you want to support the project.
  3. Share examples of emails, pages, PDFs, invoices, reports, or AI-generated content workflows you’d want Elements to support.
