Robotic factories that build robots

Robotic factories that build robotics in the US. Currently operating a 12,000 sqft factory in the Bay Area and actively manufacturing customer orders for some of the largest robotics companies in the US and the International Space Station. We’re a group of Berkeley graduate robotics researchers who previously won a full scale autonomous IndyCar competition at 160mph.

Tensr - Robotic Factories that Build Robots from Humanoids to Robots for the International Space Station
See original launch post

Robotic factories building robots. Today we have a 12,000 sqft factory in the Bay Area manufacturing everything from full humanoids to robots for the International Space Station.

Our thesis: Revitalizing domestic manufacturing means driving costs down through automation. We are building an autonomous factory that is able to autonomously process a new order end to end from prototyping to large batch production. That means supply chain management, design for manufacturing, industrial machine retooling, robotic adaptation, quality inspection, packaging, and logistics all automated. Goal: Create a factory that can autonomously go from placed customer order to completed unit scale manufacturing run in 24 hours.

We are currently manufacturing production runs from top labs, full humanoids, and even have a partnership to manufacture robotics for the International Space Station. We've also built supply chain relationships in electronics, actuators, SMT, computing, pneumatics, and raw material suppliers.

A snippet of some of our machines in the factory:

Manufacturing at the Core

This isn't just a robotic manipulation company. Its a manufacturing company.

Internally we have pipelines autonomous building large databases of actuators, and raw tracking and trying to predict what items will need to order now to meet our next day targets.

The Harness

The entire factory is a data harness we can "backprop" learnings through from errors in the customer designs, failed supply chain prediction, slow retoolings, to inaccurate robotic manipulation. Our core belief is that robotic machine learning should not rely on human data to scale but instead learn to improve from its own mistakes in the real world in real time. This closes the manufacturing data gap that currently limits large-scale factory automation.

Any Robot Anywhere

Our thesis is simple. We should be able to make an robot for any environment whether that be a humanoid for the factory floor or a robot for Low Earth Orbit. We currently have a partnership with the ISS to manufacture a robots for the space station.

Team

At heart we're a team of Roboticists. Before Tensr we were the leads for a Berkeley lab's autonomous racing team where we raced autonomous full-scale IndyCars at over 160mph as the ML, Sim, and Robotic Controls leads.

We previously worked in industrial automation, aerospace manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, Berkeley AI Research (BAIR), physics simulation, and secured $17M+ in DARPA / industry sponsorship for UC Berkeley / Stanford research.

Our founding engineers range from Berkeley Robotics PhD, ex-NASA, to 10+ years of manufacturing experience.

A Better World

On a personal note, not only do I believe we have the opportunity to build a great business but also to make a positive impact on the world. Automate away environmentally harmful materials, eliminate waste 0.1% at a time, and drive steady-state COGS toward only the fundamental inputs (materials and electricity), unlocking strong margins while collapsing the price of everyday goods / cost of living.

Lets build a better world :)
