Meru Health is a precision, whole-person mental healthcare company. Today we launched Meru Health Advanced — a 6 to 12 month integrated psychiatry and therapy program for the patients standard care has failed most completely: treatment-resistant depression and anxiety, severe mental illness, and mental health stacked on chronic physical illness.
Every patient starts with a real diagnosis: comprehensive psychiatric visits, a 30–50 biomarker lab panel, and a coordinated team — psychiatrist, therapist, dietitian, care navigator — on one platform. Plus continuous biometric data via Whoop, HRV biofeedback, and lab-informed lifestyle and supplement protocols.
Across 17 peer-reviewed studies (Stanford, Harvard, UCSF, UC Davis, Washington, Rutgers), 55–67% of our patients achieve a 50%+ reduction in depression symptoms in 2–3 months — vs 19–33% on SSRIs. Accorded actuarial analysis: 55% fewer inpatient admissions, 31% fewer ER visits, 23% lower Rx costs.

What's the backstory?
Kristian and his co-founders Riku and Albert founded Meru after Kristian had lost his brother Peter to suicide. Standard psychiatry couldn't help him; the antidepressants he was prescribed only made him worse. He wasn't an outlier — 30–40% of people with mental health conditions get labeled "treatment-resistant," a phrase I read as a confession that the model itself runs out of options after the second or third prescription.
A decade and 45,000 patients in, our 12-week Therapy program is enough for most. But the most complex patients needed something more: a psychiatrist who understands metabolic and lifestyle medicine, comprehensive labs, a dietitian, and a team that operates as one. That combination didn't exist anywhere. So we built it.

All founders full-time since 01/2016. We pivoted from a more wellness offering in 05/2016. We have been building our current offering since 09/2016.

Meru Health's offering is a digital therapeutic solution for depression with HRV-biofeedback, personal therapist and peer-group. We are building the most effective & scalable non-pharmacological solution for depression treatment with physiological & self-reported data from patients.
