tl;dr: Why can't e-commerce companies scale like tech companies? And how we might be able to change that.
We spent 12 months embedded in the operations of 30 e-commerce brands! Here’s what we learnt:
What we saw: Each company had a unique operational setup with a mix of 5 to 7 tools glued together to run the shop. To keep all these tools running smoothly with each other, it requires a lot of tedious admin. As a result, headcount increases as the company scales.
Most companies couldn't even automate a basic return processing, let alone offer exchanging items or build an AI agent to approve returns or send shipping label to the customer.
Expansion made it worse: more countries and/or SKUs = exponentially more problems.
What we built: We have built an agentic OS for e-commerce: You connect your shop stack, then describe how you want to handle shipments, returns, refunds, or claims → Pango builds the return portal, fixes the delivery options, and builds a customer service process and agent for you.
Result: So far we have managed to automate 99% of returns and shipping operations, reduce operation costs by 20% and sign 30 global brands.
