Automating equipment operations for nursing facilities

Norra helps nursing facilities manage equipment operations. Every year, ~$80 billion are spent on medical equipment like beds, concentrators, and wheelchairs. Nursing facilities continue to operate with zero visibility which leads to $15 billion in equipment waste annually. We use physical trackers and AI agents to eliminate this.

Norra: The AI Equipment Operations Platform for Nursing Facilites
See original launch post

Hey everyone! This is Ben and Yining from Norra. We’re building the AI equipment operations platform for nursing facilities.

TL;DR: Norra uses AI and real-time tracking to give nursing facilities operational intelligence they've never had.

🚨The problem:

Nursing facilities are facing an existential crisis. With the aging population, demand is surging but they can't keep up. Medicare cuts coupled with inefficient operations mean that over 50% of facilities lose money and are struggling to keep their doors open, all while facing a massive impending staff shortage.

Facilities run blindly with zero operational intelligence. They’re scrambling to manage equipment lifecycles, discovering things are broken too late (leading to failed audits), and over-purchasing because they don’t know what they have. This operational chaos costs each facility over $100K and 1,000 hours of staff time per year, time that could be spent caring for patients.

💡The solution:

With custom hardwares, Norra creates a digital twin of their entire facility, giving staff complete visibility into everything happening on the ground. With all of this data, we are able to use AI to transform the operational chaos into proactive decision making. Instead of reacting to equipment going into disrepair or overpurchasing equipment due to lack of visibility, staff now get actionable insights to prevent waste before it happens.

What it actually means: Preventative maintenance reminders and tracking, Intelligent and automated purchasing workflows, Insights to improve utilization and cut costs

⚡Impact:

We've cut our first facilities' rental spend by 70% and projected to save them $100K+ this year.

👥 About Us:

Ben and Yining met two years ago at NASA building astronaut operation software. They are two roommates turned cofounders passionate about using AI to make a real impact in healthcare.

Ben has spent 1000+ hours in hospitals and nursing facilities seeing first hand how broken their operations are.

Yining built applied AI solutions at MD Anderson Cancer Center, experiencing its potential to revolutionize healthcare.
