Illume Labs - Your 24/7 personalized health companion
See original launch post

Hey everyone 👋! We’re Pari, Frank, and Jin, co-founders of Illume.

TL;DR: Illume is a 24/7 personal health companion that connects your wearables, nutrition, workouts, and lab results to give you personalized, actionable insights over text.

Problem:

Health data is more abundant than ever, but it remains scattered. Nearly six in ten U.S. adults own a wearable or connected health device, and nearly one in three used an AI chatbot for health questions. People are generating more health data than ever and actively looking for help understanding it, but their data and guidance still live in separate places.

We saw this firsthand as family members struggled to piece together glucose readings for diabetes and blood tests for cardiovascular risk, all while juggling a pile of fitness, nutrition, and health-tracking apps that never talked to each other.

People increasingly turn to ChatGPT or Claude for answers, but without continuous context to their health, the advice is often generic, incomplete, and difficult to track over time.

Our solution:

Illume creates one home for your health and gives you a personal health companion you can text.

Today, you can:

  • Connect your wearable and automatically sync sleep, activity, and recovery data
  • Text Illume photos of your meals to log and understand your nutrition
  • Record workouts and track your training
  • Upload bloodwork and lab results
  • Ask questions about your health using the context of your own data
  • Receive proactive insights about what changed, what it might mean, and what to do next

For example, you can ask:

  • “Why am I so exhausted today? Make me a dashboard of all the relevant metrics!”
  • “How has eating late affected my sleep?”
  • “Am I recovering well enough to train? Run a regression!”
  • “What should I focus on before my next blood test?”

Illume connects patterns across your data that individual platforms can’t see, giving you a more complete picture of your health instead of another isolated score or dashboard.

You can text your Illume agent for quick answers or use the platform to explore your data, trends, and history in greater depth.

Our mission

Our long-term vision is to make healthcare more proactive, continuous, and personalized.

By combining continuous biometrics with nutrition, training, blood panels, and eventually genetic risk, Illume could help surface meaningful changes earlier and help people understand their susceptibility to conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer’s.

We want to help people move from asking, “What happened?” to understanding what may be changing and what they can do about it.

Who’s it for: Illume is initially designed for people who are proactive about their health and longevity- especially lifters, biohackers, and anyone already using wearables, blood panels, CGMs, nutrition trackers, or genetic testing.

Who we are: We’re three MIT graduates who met in freshman year!

Pari Latawa: MIT BS & MEng in CS + Molecular Biology. Previously conducted research at the Broad Institute, Eli Lilly, & MD Anderson. Founded EasyComm to build tools for children with Down Syndrome, and SparkED, a health-literacy nonprofit.

Frank Lee: MIT BS in Computer Science and Mathematics. Conducted RLAIF research for language models at MIT CSAIL and previously built agent systems at Windsurf.

Jin Wong: MIT BS in Business Analytics. Previously conducted research at the MIT Media Lab and deployed coding agents at Windsurf.
