🚧 The problem

On major projects, the record keeps losing: 80% of megaprojects blow their budget or schedule, and sums in dispute average a third of contract budgets. We think the root cause is hiding in plain sight — in the paperwork.

The root cause: paperwork is a state in time — every document a snapshot of a project thats moving daily. The documents aren't a pile, they're a web: the safety plan leans on procedures; procedures lean on templates, registers and licences; and the tender made promises all of them have to keep true. Across every company delivering the job. People spend their days dragging the paper back to reality instead of moving the job forward.

The consequence: one change means five documents to amend, and nobody catches the missed one until an auditor, regulator or client's lawyer does. In some jurisdictions: up to 25 years jail for directors and a $20M fine for the GC.

The cost of coping: engineers who trained for years to build spend their days chasing paper instead. One tier-1 team is spending $2.5M and 40–50 people on a single 400-page submission of management plans — and that's before the project even starts.
