Hey everyone! We’re Joseph, Minjae, Jaihee, and Dan, co-founders of Aleph Lab.
We’re building your child’s AI language buddy in the games they already love, helping your child learn a new language while they play—think of it as Duolingo inside Minecraft.
1. Children on average play video games for 4+hrs/week. Many parents feel guilty about the screen time and worry that their kids aren’t being productive.
2. Many parents want their children to learn a new language, but it’s challenging to have their kids sit through even a 30-minute class because it’s boring. Private native speaker tutors are expensive, costing at least $35/hr.
We turn games into real language learning by bringing Annie inside Minecraft who secretly teaches.
Here’s a video of Emily, our customer, playing with Annie.
Ask: If you’re a parent or know one with a child learning English, start learning in Aleph kids today: https://alephlab.ai/
Pedagogy: Annie prompts kids to speak hundreds of words and absorb new vocabulary, and corrects their grammar in real time, helping them improve every time they play.
Beginner-friendliness: We provide real-time transcriptions of Annie’s speech to help beginners understand Annie and refer to sample responses to know what to say next.
Curriculum: We offer a variety of modules (custom maps with scenarios) where children can practice speaking across different situations.
Safety: Learning happens on a private server, where kids play safely with Annie, free from random strangers or unfiltered chats. Annie also speaks in a child-friendly tone.
We’d love intros to:

All four of us are immigrants who know how hard it is to learn a new language. To help kids facing the same challenge, we tutored English for years. It was hard to keep kids engaged with flashcards and textbooks. But, when we joined them in Minecraft and spoke only in English, they naturally absorbed new words and phrases.
This was our “aha” moment that led us to build Annie. She’s better than us at English and Minecraft, and is always available. Kids even say they’d rather play with Annie than us, so we’re on a mission to bring Annie to children around the world.
