Agentcard: Debit cards for AI agents
See original launch post

hey everyone, we're Karen and Felipe, and we are building Agentcard: debit cards for AI agents.

TL;DR

AI agents are finally smart enough to do real things for you. but the second they need to pay for something, they're stuck, and handing an agent your real card (no limits, no controls) is a terrible idea.

so we built Agentcard: give your agent its own debit card: fund a wallet, set a budget, and issue one-time cards that auto-close after a single charge. works with any agent over MCP, the CLI, or our API. its everything an agent needs to pay for things online. here's the lineup:

so we built Agentcard — everything an agent needs to pay for things online. here's the lineup

the team

Karen (CEO): former CEO @ Atlas (acquired by Remote), then turned down a job at Stripe to build Agentcard instead.

Felipe (CTO): second-time YC founder (HelloGuru, W22) and first employee at Rappi (YC W16), where he shipped consumer products at scale.

the problem

agents can now research, plan, and decide but the second they need to pay, they're stuck. the workarounds are all bad: hand your agent your real card and you've got no limits and no controls (one bad prompt from disaster), or build your own issuing + checkout stack and lose months becoming a payments company. so agents do the first 90% and hand checkout back to you, the most valuable step is the one they can't take.

the solution

Agentcard is everything an agent needs to pay for things online:

  • 💳 cards
give any agent its own debit card: fund a wallet, set a budget, and issue one-time cards that auto-close after a single charge. if something goes wrong, the blast radius is one capped card, not your bank account.

  • 🛒 buy (new — launching today!)
you don't even wire up a merchant. connect once, then tell your agent "buy me sushi" and it runs the whole thing — search, cart, checkout, payment — in the conversation. first up: DoorDash, right from inside Claude. it feels like magic 🥹

  • 🏢 Agentcard for companies
drop Agentcard into your own product and give your users' agents their own cards at scale, with budgets and spend controls built in.

all of it works with any agent: over MCP, the CLI, or our API. and people are already using it: agents out there paying for OpenAI subscriptions, groceries and infra on their own.

our ask

  • building with agents? try it → agentcard.sh, and tell us which merchant we should add next
  • building a product whose agents should buy things? let's talk → founders@agentcard.sh

thanks everyone 🙏
