Cancer screening without barriers

We know how to improve cancer outcomes by 8x-10x: you catch it early. MRI is the most robust and powerful cancer-detection tool in the world, yet systems cost millions to purchase, take months to install, and require high levels of technical skill to operate. We've redesigned MRI from the ground up with new physics, algorithms, and hardware, all to bring cancer screening to the entire world. Our mobile MRI is an imaging clinic on wheels. No equipment to buy, no infrastructure needed. For a flat per-scan fee, any medical site can offer MRI cancer screening. Starting with prostate cancer. Then everything else.

TLDR: Adialante builds compact and mobile whole-body MRIs. We already have $12.75M in LOIs, $30k in deposits, and our first system will be scanning by demo day.

"Disruptive Innovation describes a process by which a product or service takes root in simple applications at the bottom of the market — typically by being less expensive and more accessible — and then relentlessly moves upmarket, eventually displacing established competitors." — Christensen Institute

We’re @Efrain Torres and @Parker Jenkins, the co-founders of @Adialante. We met on the first floor of our engineering dorm. And when we learned what disruptive innovation was, it captured us immediately. But what to disrupt? Trained as biomedical engineers, we both learned about MRI and were in awe of the clinical value. It can diagnose cancers, strokes, dementia, and more. Yet everyone said the same thing: MRI is not accessible.

So we knew what we had to do: disrupt the industry.

Over the past six years, we've invented new ways to do MRI, won millions in competitive grants, published research, secured patents (#12,625,209, #12,372,595, more to come), and built a team. And, now, we’re well on our way to disrupting the industry.

Problem:

We know how to 10x cancer outcomes: you catch it early. MRI is the most powerful cancer-detection tool in the world, yet systems cost millions to purchase, take months to install, and require high levels of technical skill. The result? We only use MRI when it's too late.

Our solution:

We've redesigned MRI from the ground up with new physics, algorithms, and hardware, all to bring cancer screening to all of us. Our MRIs:

  • use 50% less hardware
  • are 40% shorter and 80% lighter
  • are whisper-quiet and much less claustrophobic
  • and require no specialized infrastructure

All while maintaining the diagnostic quality patients need.

But like Waymo, we won't sell our hardware — we'll own and operate it. We'll bring our MRIs to clinics in mobile trailers, handle its operations, and continuously improve our AI software after every scan. We're an imaging clinic on wheels. So instead of a clinic waiting months and paying millions, clinics will wait hours and pay hundreds.

We're starting with prostate cancer. Over 1M men every year require an MRI before a prostate biopsy, but virtually none of the urology clinics that treat them can offer one.

After our per-scan fee, a clinic will collect the insurance reimbursement and make a profit. It's a win-win-win: we get the recurring revenue, they get a new revenue stream, and patients get the best imaging technology in the world. From there, the same piece of hardware expands to renal, breast, and brain scanning until annual screening for high-risk cancers is the norm, not the exception.

Traction:

  • 6 clinics signed up

  • $12.75M in LOIs for scanner utilization

  • $30k deposited from a top ten urology clinic to reserve their spot in line

  • MRI assembled
