These new “AI-native” accounting firms are still designed to be run by humans in two facets: the first 25%, fostering client relationships, and the final 25%, signing off and filing with the IRS.\n\n**Josh Kushner’s company, Thrive Holdings, the largest disruptor in this space, explicitly argues that agents will never replace this** \\[1\\]**.** Their reasoning? Agents don’t carry trust.\n\nCurrently, agents are not trusted, humans are. That’s why every AI startup nowadays does the work, and leaves judgment to a human. But this is changing, and we’re early. As new agent-centric companies grow (Instinct, Natural, AgentMail), agents become common in daily life and work, and eventually will become trusted entities \\[2\\].\n\nOnce agents are trusted, there is no reason they cannot own entire, traditionally trust-heavy industries, end-to-end. A fraction of the market does care about trust and the human relationship with their accountant, but most of us definitely do not want to spend a second more with one than we have to.\n\n\\[2\\] These companies inherently bet on agents to proliferate in society. We also believe AI will continue to get better and safer.
