Our AI operators run on a rack of Mac Minis — working with real file systems, logging into portals, writing forms, negotiating with underwriters, making calls — doing the exact same work a human broker does, across thousands of clients at once. We've been in production since December.

<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pyuxPPAzt8&feature=youtu.be>

## The Problem

Not every business can buy insurance off the shelf. Standard insurers simply won't touch a trucking fleet, a nightclub, or a nursing home. These businesses need a broker to find specialty carriers willing to write the policy, negotiate the terms, and get it bound. This hard-to-place segment, known as the Excess & Surplus (E&S) market, accounts for $125B in premium every year.

Getting one of these businesses insured takes \\~50 steps over two weeks. The broker's actual judgment matters for maybe 5% of the process. The other 95% is pure coordination—noticing what's next, executing it, and remembering where every file stands across email, phone, text, and PDF.

Because the entire workflow relies on human memory, every broker hits a hard ceiling at around 400 clients. It's not a lack of skill—it's simply impossible for one human brain to track the real-time state of 400 complex placements across emails, carrier portals, and PDFs.

## Why We Go Full-Stack Instead of Selling Software

Every AI insurtech today focuses on making **one step** out of those **50** faster: better form fill, better quote analysis, better email drafts. But there are **no software margins in making a human 10% faster**. A broker who saves 10 hours a week goes from 400 clients to maybe 440 max.

The bottleneck isn't the speed of any single step—it's the single human brain holding the entire state of the placement together. So what does it take to go from **400** to **4,000** clients? This is the key: you can't build your way out of a coordination bottleneck with better software tools. To scale 10x, the **entire human coordination layer has to go**.

We spent months selling AI tools to brokers before realizing this. So, we stopped selling software and became the broker.

## What We Built

Panta is a licensed brokerage where the operations layer is entirely automated. Because of the complexity of brokerage workflow, **we built an internal OpenClaw agent way before it went viral out of necessity**. Our agents operate inside the exact same systems a human broker uses: file systems, carrier portals, email, phone, and PDFs.

* **Submissions:** Read transcripts, emails, loss runs. Fill ACORDs and market-specific apps. Submit to the right carriers. Track every requirement.
* **Follow-ups:** Chase underwriter responses. Answer questions. Keep every file moving until quotes are bindable.
* **Service:** Issue COIs, handle endorsements. Same-day turnaround.
* **Renewals:** Rebuild the risk file. Re-shop early. Surface tradeoffs before the last week.

Everything is licensed, regulated, and audited. We have **human approval** gates on high-stakes actions and maintain full audit logs.

**Example:** An armed security company guarding a 100,000-person stadium came to us after being rejected by six brokers over the course of a month. No one would touch it. Our agents had bindable quotes in three days with 60 emails.

## The Team

![uploaded image](/media/?type=post&id=98174&key=user_uploads/1041197/06096fb3-5d3d-420e-ba2c-048f0ba254ab)

We're both licensed commercial insurance brokers. Together we've placed explosives manufacturers, hazardous gas facilities, roofers, steel mills, and hazmat trucking. One placement alone meant 70 pages of forms, 100+ emails across carriers and underwriters, and weeks of back-and-forth — we've done this hundreds of times by hand. Everything Panta automates is a workflow we've personally executed.

**Vincent (CEO)** — Previously AI/ML at Google: led a team of MIT/Berkeley PhDs building Vertex AI's foundational recommendation model, led NotebookLM Enterprise, shipped Ask Photos at Google I/O.

**Frank (CTO)** — Previously Apple senior engineer. Built their Gen-AI chatbot and Rust infrastructure powering 1M+ realtime messages/month. Top-10 contributor to the Rust and Gleam ecosystems.

We've been close friends since high school. Living, building, and shipping together in San Francisco for the past year, seven days a week.

## The Ask

* **Hard-to-place risk?** Business rejected by standard markets? Broker went dark mid-renewal? We place risks in construction, trucking, oil & gas, hospitality, and manufacturing.
* **Know a swamped broker?** Know a broker drowning in renewals? We're onboarding partners to handle their servicing/renewal.
* Connect us: [vincent@pantainsure.com](mailto:vincent@pantainsure.com)
//bookface-static.ycombinator.com/assets/ycdc/yc-og-image-c440a0ad1dacfb86eeeb343717479cc54d256614449b4ef719977a0a451f8bc8.png
