About the role

Founding Product Marketer

About Vooma

Enterprise software is in the midst of a revolution. The world is shifting from "systems of record" to "systems of automation" — LLM-powered agents that perform complex business tasks alongside humans, with increasing autonomy. The companies that lead this shift in major industries will become the most important companies of the AI era.

Vooma's mission is to build an autonomous execution platform for global logistics, starting with America's $800+ BN trucking industry. Everything you touch in the physical world moved on a truck — yet much of logistics is still run phone calls, emails, text messages from large teams spending much of their job on tedious administrative work. We’re building a future where physical product moves across the globe seamlessly and frictionlessly so entrepreneurs and businesses thrive.

Our founders know the industry and problem space deeply. Jesse grew and sold 4 logistics technology companies and Mike was employee number 2 at Kodiak Robotics (went public, NASDAQ: KDK), a leader in self-driving trucks.

We're growing rapidly, have many millions of ARR, 149% net revenue retention, work with many of the largest logistics companies in the US, have an insanely talented team, and are backed by top tier investors like Craft Ventures, Index Ventures, Y Combinator, as well and CEOs, founders, and executives from across the logistics industry.

About the Role

You'll be Vooma's founding product marketer , reporting directly to our CEO, and the person responsible for how the world hears about, understands, and buys what we're building.

Our platform has grown and evolved fast, our GTM team is scaling, and the power of what we’ve built is compounding every quarter. The story of our impact needs to keep pace, and right now, it isn't. The freight industry has heard plenty of overpromises from tech companies, and your job is to cut through that with sharp positioning, credible storytelling, and launches that land.

This is a generalist role with a wide surface area. You'll own everything from how we describe what we do, how our product helps transform our customer’s businesses, how we articulate a unique message to the market, how our sales team sells, how we bring that to life through content, and some overall brand positioning. As we grow, you'll shape what the product marketing function becomes.

This is an incredible opportunity to help transform how 12% of the world’s GDP operates.

What You'll Do

  • Own positioning and messaging for the company and product — for the industry, for buyers, and for users on the floor
  • Drive product launches end-to-end — naming, messaging, content, customer comms, internal enablement — so every release lands with customers and the market
  • Partner closely with our SVP Sales and CEO to arm our sales team with the pitch decks, demos, one-pagers, and competitive intel they need to close enterprise deals
  • Turn customers into advocates — case studies, testimonials, references, conference appearances, the works
  • Build the content engine — blog, newsletter, social, conference materials — whatever it takes to be the loudest, most consistent, most credible voice in freight AI
  • Partner with product and engineering to translate technical capability into customer value, and bring market insight back to inform what we build
  • Set the systems and rhythms that let marketing run reliably as we scale

Must-Haves

  • Real B2B product marketing experience — you've owned positioning, launches, and sales enablement, not just demand gen or content production
  • A track record marketing to real-world, non-Silicon-Valley audiences — ops teams, fleet managers, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, or similar buyers who don't read TechCrunch. Or proof you can credibly adapt: we'll dig in on this
  • Sharp writer and storyteller — you can take something technical and dense and make it crisp, plain-spoken, and compelling
  • Strong product instincts — you sweat the details of what we ship and have opinions about it
  • Hustle and ownership — you're known by your peers as the person who moves mountains and makes progress, no matter the circumstances
  • Comfort with ambiguity — you're excited, not terrified, to be the first PMM with no playbook to inherit

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in freight, logistics, supply chain, or another physical-world industry
  • Experience marketing AI or agentic products
  • Have built or scaled a marketing function from zero before
  • Customer-facing chops — comfortable on calls with brokers, truckers, and execs

Why You'll Love It Here

  • The rare opportunity to join a formidable team to build a massive and enduring company in one of the world’s largest and most critical industries
  • Direct line to the founders and a seat at the table on company strategy
  • Real ownership — you're not slotting into someone else's marketing machine, you're building it
  • Competitive compensation and significant equity upside
  • Medical, dental, vision
  • In-person in San Francisco — we work together, in the same room, every day

About Vooma

We're building the AI Agent for logistics

The first "skill" we built for the Vooma Agent automates order entry from shippers, which is the process of reading emails and keying in details about a load. It's a ubiquitous and expensive pain point for brokers and carriers, and the perfect wedge for building our broader platform.

The second skill we launched automates quoting. For every truckload that our customers move, they quote on many more, often by email. By embedding in a user's email inbox, Vooma is able to automate most of the quoting process, and surface critical funnel data that has historically been hidden in thousands of emails.

We've raised our seed round from Tier 1 investors and leading industry angels. We have enterprise contracts with leading logistics companies. Our team is made up of top talent from AI research and autonomous vehicles.

Our team

Vooma is founded by Jesse Buckingham and Mike Carter. Mike built self driving trucks as a founding engineer at Kodiak Robotics (raised $250M) where he established and led their motion planning and safety teams. Jesse was previously CEO at a private equity backed logistics software company that sold to brokers and truckers which he grew from $2M to $20M+ ARR.
