Founding Android Engineer

We’re building Tegore to be the default at-home math tutor and are looking for a founding engineer to develop it’s mobile app from scratch to get it into the hands of millions of users.

We’re hiring a sole, founding Android engineer to own the entire mobile product:

• Ship a super-performant Android app that runs smoothly on the average Indian device (Android 8+, 1–2GB RAM, 16–32GB storage).
• Build a voice-forward, multilingual, AI-powered tutor that feels like a game, not school.

This is a 4 month project-based role based in India that has the scope to convert to a full-time role.

Who we’re looking for:

• You are driven to making high-quality education accessible.
• You have built Android apps from scratch and owned them end-to-end.
• You’ve specifically shipped on low-end / emerging market Android devices:
  • You think about APK size, cold-start time, memory as first-class problems.
• You’ve measured and improved retention before:
  • D1/D7/D30, funnels, A/B tests on onboarding or core loops.
• You’re comfortable working with LLM APIs / voice models:
  • You understand prompt design, streaming, caching, and cost/perf tradeoffs.
• You have an ownership mindset.
• You are based in India.
