About the role

About the role

You will own a scoped technical project that contributes directly to our research loop. Depending on your strengths and the team’s current bottlenecks, the work may involve training infrastructure, simulation and evaluation, multimodal data processing, robot software, visualization, or calibration tooling. This is a building role rather than a shadowing program.

What you’ll do

  • Design and ship a useful component of our research, data, simulation, or robot software stack.
  • Run reproducible experiments and communicate what worked, what failed, and what should happen next.
  • Work with researchers and hardware engineers to test software against real data and physical systems.
  • Improve reliability, observability, or usability where better tooling accelerates the team.

What we’re looking for

  • Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming fundamentals and practical experience in Python; C++ experience is useful for some projects.
  • Evidence of building substantial software through research, coursework, open source, internships, or personal projects.
  • Curiosity about machine learning, robotics, simulation, data systems, or scientific computing.
  • The ability to work independently, ask precise questions, and debug unfamiliar systems carefully.
  • Current enrollment in a degree program is welcome but not required if you can demonstrate the relevant ability.

Working at Relari

Relari is a small research and engineering startup developing new ways for robots to learn dexterous skills from human biomechanics. Our founders have AI research roots at MIT and NVIDIA, along with autonomous-vehicle and robotics deployment experience at Pony AI and Dexterity. We are backed by top investors including Y Combinator, General Catalyst, and Soma Capital. You will work directly with the founders, own problems end to end, and test your ideas on real robotic systems. This is an on-site internship in San Francisco.

About Relari

Relari is a robotics research company developing new ways for robots to learn dexterous manipulation from humans. We combine video with rich, scalable biomechanical data—including electromyography (EMG), motion, force, and touch—to train robotics foundation models for more capable, human-like manipulation.
