High-performance time series database
QuestDB is the low-latency time-series database on open formats. It ingests millions of events per second, computes on live data in milliseconds, and keeps years of history queryable: one SQL engine spanning messaging, stream processing and tiered storage, so teams can act on what is happening and learn from everything that happened.
The engine is written in low-latency Java (zero-GC), Rust, C++ and assembly: columnar storage, vectorized and JIT-compiled SQL, streaming materialized views, and an open lakehouse tier on Parquet and Iceberg. QuestDB Enterprise turns a single server into a fully distributed deployment with a multi-tiered lakehouse architecture, ready for mission-critical workloads on the critical path.
Our open-source repository has passed 17k GitHub stars and we're the fastest-growing database in our category. QuestDB runs in production at tier-1 banks, exchanges, trading firms, hedge funds, crypto platforms and energy operators across four continents, and is expanding into robotics, aerospace and Physical AI. We recently won Best Trading Analytics Platform at the TradingTech Summit Europe, the first non-legacy vendor to do so.
We hire talented and passionate people who share our mission to empower developers to solve their problems with data. We are building breakthrough technology to power the infrastructure of tomorrow.
We're hiring a pre-sales engineer for North America to own the technical side of every sales cycle in the region.
You own the technical validation that happens before a deal is signed: discovery, a time-boxed proof of concept with success criteria agreed up front, benchmarks run on the customer's own data that their engineers can reproduce, architecture sign-off and security review, through to the first production workload. You are the engineer in the room when a bank's platform team asks how replication and failover actually work, or when an aerospace team needs rocket telemetry streamed and queried in real time. Most evaluations are for new projects at firms that already run incumbent systems, so much of the work is making the case credible against what they know: the architecture, the numbers, and a plan their engineers believe they can execute.
You work closely with our CEO, who is on the ground in New York, and with the sales team on every deal. You also work directly with our CTO and core engineers on the product, so what you learn in the field goes straight into the roadmap. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with a lot of customer time and a lot of autonomy.
In your application, include a short note on why this role, and one evaluation or migration you ran that you are proud of, including what you would do differently now.
QuestDB is the fastest growing time-series database in the world.
As a specialized database, QuestDB stores, processes and analyzes time series data in real-time, with a focus on reliability, extreme performance and simplicity. It provides best-in-class hardware efficiency and robust features, saving costs and accelerating time-to-value.
Teams have had success with QuestDB across a wide range of industries, such as Financial Services, Energy, Manufacturing, Web3 and Space Exploration. Fortune 500 companies such as Airbus and Yahoo deploy QuestDB for large-scale, data-intensive production systems, serving close to a billion users. Emerging and disruptive startups also leverage QuestDB to gain a significant edge within traditional industries.
Our open source repository has gathered 14k+ stars in three years, and is the fastest growing in our category according to DB-Engines. We are a product-first company with a large community of developers. As a team, we are globally distributed, remote-first and backed by leading venture capital firms and Y Combinator.
