Oway is fixing it. We're an industrial automation and research company building AI systems that automatically price, match, and sell unused freight capacity in real time, turning dead miles into productive ones and giving businesses access to dramatically faster, cheaper distribution than anything that's existed before. When freight moves more efficiently, goods cost less, manufacturers can compete more aggressively, and the carriers who are the backbone of the US economy earn more for the work they already do.
At the center of this is Juno, our AI-native coordination engine. Autonomous freight coordination at scale is one of the hardest real-world AI problems being worked on today: it requires reasoning over live telemetry from thousands of vehicles, pricing under uncertainty, handling edge cases that no rulebook anticipated, and doing all of it in real time without human intervention. Juno does this. And as it improves, it compounds. Each solved edge case, each routing insight, each pricing calibration makes the entire network smarter. The data moat Oway is building through Juno isn't just defensible in logistics; it's the kind of industrial intelligence that could underpin US competitiveness across physical industries for decades.

About This Role
We're a fast-moving team looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help us build the next generation of Oway's platform. You'll work closely with our engineering leads to build critical infrastructure that powers automated distribution for thousands of businesses, from our shipper-facing app and API to the internal tooling that supports Juno, our AI-native coordination engine.
Your work will touch every layer of the product: the instant quoting flows that get businesses a price in 30 seconds, the shipment lifecycle from creation to delivery, and the integrations that connect Oway into enterprise infrastructure via our REST API, SMC3, and Project 44.
What You'll Do
- Own features end-to-end, from concept and design through deployment and monitoring.
- Work across our stack: Java (Spring) on the backend, TypeScript + React on the frontend, and MongoDB for data.
- Build and maintain the core shipper and carrier APIs, including quote, shipment, tracking, and invoice endpoints used by businesses ranging from startups to Fortune 500s.
- Build product surfaces that integrate with Juno's automated dispatch and coordination workflows.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Carrier, and Operations teams to ship tools that have direct real-world impact.
- Help shape the technical culture of an early-stage company, from architecture decisions to deployment practices.
- Write clean, maintainable code and move fast without breaking things that matter.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of experience as a full-stack or backend engineer.
- Strong command of Java, TypeScript, and React (or similar frameworks).
- Experience building and maintaining production APIs and systems end-to-end.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments where you have meaningful ownership.
- Excited by hard, unstructured problems, motivated by impact over process.
- Strong communicator who thrives in small, cross-functional teams.
- Bonus: familiarity with logistics tech, LLM integrations, or freight/EDI protocols (SMC3, Project 44).

Every year, up to 50% of all the truck space in America goes empty - a $100B problem that greatly impacts the economy down to the products you buy every day. Oway is solving this massive inefficiency by defining a new category of freight shipping that soley works via the live unused space in active trucks every day. We're building the largest decentralized infrastructure for "rideshare" freight shipping, and enabling anyone to build their company on top of it. We believe by doing this, we can ultimately lower the costs of products sold all over the country.
