AI-powered risk and compliance for financial institutions
About Kobalt Labs
Kobalt is the AI-native compliance operating system for financial institutions (FIs). Compliance is critical for FIs to get right, but most of their work still happens manually, in legacy technology or Excel.
Banks, credit unions, and fintechs across the country use Kobalt to run third party due diligence, screen marketing collateral, and stay current with the ever-changing regulatory landscape. Since our Series A, we've grown revenue more than 5x and work with some of the most notable names in financial services, including Chime, Upstart, and Affirm.
The Role
Engineers at Kobalt own products end-to-end, from understanding the customer problem and shaping the technical approach through building, shipping, and operating the solution in production.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you'll build the core product experiences our customers use every day. Risk and compliance teams manage complex, highly structured workflows involving large amounts of data, documents, approvals, and collaboration. You'll figure out how to make those workflows fast and intuitive, then build the frontend and backend systems that make them work.
This role is a good fit for an engineer who cares deeply about the product they're building: how information is structured, how users move through a workflow, where complexity belongs, and how the underlying technical design enables a great experience.
What You'll Do
Build and ship new product features end-to-end across Kobalt's frontend and backend.
Own major features from technical design through launch, working closely with other engineers and Customer Success.
Build intuitive user experiences for complex risk and compliance workflows.
Develop AI-powered features that help customers automate work that has historically been manual.
Improve the performance, reliability, and architecture of our application as we scale.
Work directly with customers to understand how they use Kobalt and turn their feedback into better products.
