🛠️ About the Role

We’re looking for a Founding AI Engineer to join us at Galen AI, where we’re reimagining what it means to have a personal doctor. You’ll work directly with Priyanka (ex- Stanford SAIL, Roche, Cleveland Clinic) and Viraj (ex-Optiver, IMC). We’re backed from top investors and physicians from Stanford, Cleveland Clinic, Y Combinator, and Maven Ventures, and we’re building a platform that integrates clinical, wearable, and conversational data into one personalized AI health companion. This is an opportunity to join at day zero shaping both the product and the company.

What You’ll Build

• Health Intelligence Stack: Architect backend systems that unify FHIR data, wearable APIs, and patient conversations into a cohesive longitudinal health timeline.
• LLM Training & Finetuning: Build pipelines, evals, and safety tooling to improve accuracy, trustworthiness, and clinical reliability in real-world settings.
• Agentic Workflows: Design multi-agent orchestration for multimodal reasoning, data extraction, and personalized decision support.
• User Experience: Create intuitive chat + dashboards that make complex medical data understandable and actionable.
• Technical Strategy: Drive decisions around latency, security, compliance, and scalable infra (HIPAA, PHI, high-availability systems).

Our Technology:

• Typescript, Node.js, React, Python, Supabase, AWS, Multimodal LLMs

Nice to have:

• Worked with LLMs for multi-modal health analysis (text, images, documents)
• Experience with event-driven architecture for asynchronous processing
• Experience with RAG, MCP, tool use, memory, retry logic, context updates feedback mechanisms etc.
• Worked with Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) Framework
• Swift (mobile dev)
