AI Scheduling for Short Haul Trucks
Location: Austin, TX (In-office, 4-5 days a week)
Compensation: $55K–$75K base | $85K–$115K OTE | Equity
Dayjob builds AI agents for short-haul trucking- a $45B industry where the most critical decisions still rely on human expertise. We’re about to hit $1M ARR, growing 20% month-on-month, fresh out of Y Combinator, and backed by investors including Paul Graham and Harry Stebbings. Our clients are some of the largest waste and recycling operators in the UK and US. Austin is our first U.S. office, and you’ll be among our very first hires here.
As our Founding Sales Development Representative, you’ll own building the U.S. pipeline from the ground up. Our buyers are waste fleet owners who value real industry insight and ignore anything that feels automated. This is not a 400-emails-a-day job. This is about deep research, strategic cold calling, in-person visits, trade show networking, and learning the industry so well that experienced operators want to hear what you have to say.
You’ll work side-by-side in Austin with George, our CEO - formerly Head of Sales at Otta and who launched Deliveroo’s grocery division (£100M GMV). You’ll join every meeting you book, travel to sites, and gradually take ownership of more of the sales cycle.
Research and build your own outreach, using cold calls, email, and LinkedIn to connect with fleet owners and operations leads.
Help shape the US target list and decide which prospects we pursue.
Deeply learn the waste and trucking industry: depots, tips, roll-offs, and how better planning saves real money.
Run meetings alongside George, joining every appointment you set.
Represent Dayjob at industry events—prospect beforehand, book meetings on the floor, and manage follow-up.
Feed market insights back into our messaging and qualification process to help write the US playbook.
1-2 years in B2B sales, ideally software.
Energized by cold outreach and phone calls.
Comfortable doing your own research and writing your own outreach.
Motivated to own a number rather than run a sequence handed to you.
Based in Austin or open to relocating.
AI-native and excited about the transformative impact automation can have on industry.
Experience in waste, logistics, or transport is a plus but not required; if you consistently book tough meetings, we want to talk.
$55K–$75K base salary (depending on experience)
$85K–$115K OTE
Equity as one of our first 20 employees
Health, dental, and vision coverage
21 days PTO, public holidays, and your birthday off
30 min intro call with George (CEO)
60 min session with George and our UK Head of Sales: mock discovery call (we act as the fleet owner), then a business interview
30 min closing chat with both founders
We aim to move from first call to decision within two weeks.
Dayjob builds autonomous AI agents for industrial logistics. Our scheduling agent plugs into existing ERP software and continuously re-optimises fleet routes in real time, handling new jobs, driver changes, and exceptions automatically.
Waste routes are still built manually, every morning. A transport planner sits down at 7am, spends 60–90 minutes building a route plan, and that plan is often obsolete within another hour. Our customers say they literally cannot hire and train planners fast enough — most burn out within 18 months.
Dayjob replaces this process. The scheduling agent builds a full fleet schedule in around 60 seconds with no rip-and-replace migration needed. Early results: 8%+ fleet efficiency gains from day one, 50% improvement in hitting customer time slots, and one customer saw an £800K revenue uplift in their first year.
We're a team of 5 based in London, backed by Y Combinator (Spring 2026). Founded by George Postlethwaite (CEO, ex-Deliveroo, Otta) and Fred Fooks (CTO, Engineering Science Oxford, ex-Deloitte, Capgemini).
