Contrario (YC W25) is building the modern, AI-powered recruiting marketplace, connecting elite startup recruiters with fast-growing companies through AI-powered matching and operational tools. We’ve raised $2.5M from Y Combinator and Nexus Venture Partners, with angels from Hudson River Trading, Stanford, and OpenAI. Our customers include 50+ YC and venture-backed startups hiring across engineering and GTM roles.
The Role
We’re hiring a Software Engineering Intern to join us in-person in San Francisco for Summer 2026. You’ll work directly with the founders and have full ownership over features—from concept to deployment. We’ll provide a housing stipend and cover meals in the office during your internship.
What You’ll Do
- Build and ship full-stack features end-to-end using Next.js, TypeScript, and Supabase
- Develop and improve AI-powered search, matching, and recruiter tools
- Collaborate directly with founders to prioritize and iterate on high-impact product ideas
- Take full ownership of projects, operating with speed, autonomy, and precision in a fast-paced environment
What We’re Looking For
Required:
- Current undergrad/masters student pursuing a degree in Computer Science or related field (EE, Math)
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and modern web frameworks (Next.js/React)
- Comfort working across the full stack (frontend, backend, database)
- Interest in AI/LLMs, embeddings, and retrieval systems
- High agency, entrepreneurial mindset, and ability to work independently
- Excitement to be hands-on in a small team and ship meaningful features fast
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Supabase/Postgres
- Prior experience at a startup or working on personal projects from scratch
- Understanding of AI/ML fundamentals
