About Us

We're a team of applied researchers, engineers, and technologists building the next generation of tools for architects and engineers – for the people who design and build the physical world. Our customers use Cogram to run projects ranging from housing, hospitals, bridges, airports, to skyscrapers, datacenters, factories, and so much more.

Completing such complex projects on time and budget is a difficult problem, so architecture and engineering firms use a host of software tools to coordinate and keep track of work. Most of those tools were built decades ago and haven't changed much since. They're often expensive, hard to use, and treat AI as a checkbox or a future promise. We’ve set out to fix that, and leading architecture and engineering firms around the world use Cogram’s AI systems to help manage their projects. When we make new tools, we usually start by asking: what if we redesigned the existing tools from scratch, for the AI era? What should these tools look like if we build them today, knowing what AI can do?

We're also working on AI systems that help with the design process. Current AI is very capable with language and code, but less strong at reasoning about geometry, space, constraints, and complex 3D objects. AI has to understand thousands of interdependent objects and physical and regulatory constraints, reason across multiple representations, and produce something another engineer can modify. As this gap closes, computer-aided design will become agentic. The implications are profound, since almost everything in the physical world passes through architects or engineers before it is built.

Cogram was founded in 2021 by researchers in physics and machine learning from Oxford. We’ve partnered with some of the world’s leading venture investors, including Initialized, Y Combinator, and Elad Gil.

Why ex-founders

We’re a remote-first team. You talk to customers, decide what to build, build it, ship it, and measure whether it worked. You’re comfortable with thin specs. If something breaks at the edge of your knowledge, you figure it out. If you’ve built and run a company before, this will feel familiar. The pace, the ambiguity, the ownership. The difference is you’re joining a company with traction, paying customers at scale, and a clear technical direction.

What we’re looking for

  • You’ve founded or co-founded a tech company and built product yourself.
  • You’re good at talking to users and understanding requirements. You can design, ship, and own features end-to-end.
  • 3+ years building production software. Strong in at least one backend technology and one frontend technology.
  • Habitual power user of AI (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or whatever’s next). Strong opinions about AI-augmented engineering. Always finding tools that make you and the team faster.
  • Comfortable in unfamiliar territory: cloud ops, CI pipelines, mobile, a gnarly customer workflow.
  • You can explain technical trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers alike.
  • You know when to cut corners and when to be rigorous.

Bonus: experience with shipping LLM-based production software, React Native/Expo, cloud ops (AWS, Azure), Terraform, Kubernetes, AEC industry exposure.

Stack

Python (FastAPI), Postgres, Redis, React/TypeScript, React Native/Expo, Terraform/Kubernetes on AWS & Azure.

Benefits

Fully remote, three offsites/year. 38 paid days off (26 personal + 12 German public holidays). Competitive salary + generous equity. Personal development stipend.

How to apply

  • One or two paragraphs on your background.
  • One to two lines on what you built and what you took away from it.
  • A URL to a live project, repo, or open-source contribution.
  • Your current agentic-coding setup.

No AI slop, please. If your experience doesn’t match every line, apply anyway. We care more about how you think than where you’ve been. Come join us.

About the interview

  1. Screening call (20–30 min)
  2. Technical interview (with and without AI, 2–3 hours)
  3. Cultural-fit interview with co-founder (45 minutes)
  4. Optional: paid trial days (remote or in-person) and / or in-person meet-up
  5. Decision

We move fast. The whole process often takes a few days.
