Founding Operator @ Artificial Societies

London in-person full time | £60k - £80k salary | up to 0.3% equity

The Role

This is a founding operator role. We are hiring one person only. The bar is high.

This is not a traditional operations role. There is no fixed scope. You will work directly with the CEO and CPO to increase the output of the company - across anything required to make the machine run faster.

This role is about doing things that don’t scale. We’re looking for someone who is execution-first - someone who gets things done quickly, takes ownership, and is willing to do whatever is required to create value.

You should be comfortable:

• Jumping into messy, undefined problems
• Doing manual, unglamorous work when needed
• Prioritising speed and impact over elegance
• Leveraging AI to 10x your output

Over time, you’ll improve and systemise what works — but only after you understand it deeply.

What You’ll Do

• Operate across everything
  • Handle tasks across client acquisition, delivery, and internal operations (legal, finance).
  • Own scheduling, logistics, travel, and coordination
  • Draft outbound messages and follow-ups
  • Support client projects by drafting research plans, analysing results, and producing reports
• Do whatever it takes to move things forward
  • Solve problems quickly, even if the solution is scrappy
  • Step into gaps without being asked
  • Handle both high-leverage and low-leverage tasks with equal ownership
• Act as a force multiplier
  • Take things off the founders’ plates and get them done end-to-end
  • Identify what’s worth systemising vs what isn’t
  • Use tools (including AI) to increase speed and quality when appropriate

What We’re Looking For

• Very high capability. You can operate across domains (legal, accounting, client work) without hand-holding.
• Execution-first. You get things done quickly and to a high standard.
• Objective-driven agency. You take a goal and figure out how to deliver it — without needing step-by-step guidance.
• High output. You use tools (including AI) to 10x your productivity.

We do not require a specific background or degree.

• Are an all-rounder - highly capable across multiple domains
• Learn quickly by doing, not by theorising
• Are curious about human behaviour and decision-making
• Are confident using tools (including AI or code) to get things done when useful

• Not a narrowly defined job
• Not for someone who wants to optimise systems before understanding them
• Not for someone who needs structure or clear boundaries
