Alex is one of the fastest-growing startups to come out of our YC batch, building at the frontier of AI and hiring. We’re generating strong revenue, are backed by strong investors, and have years of runway.

We move quickly, and we’re changing how companies hire. Our AI recruiter, Alex, conducts live job interviews, helping companies get deep hiring signals faster. Alex helps recruiters with their busy work so they can focus on higher leverage tasks and building relationships with promising candidates.

About the Role

We’re quickly scaling from a team of 25 to 100, and we need our first recruiting leader - someone who can build up our talent function from 0 to 1. This is a high trust role with massive scope and ownership, reporting to the Operations Lead. You’ll define how we hire, who we hire, and the backend systems and processes that power it all.

As our Founding Recruiter , you’ll:

  • Partner directly with leadership and hiring managers to build and execute on our hiring roadmap.
  • Design and implement scalable internal recruiting systems and processes, keeping our talent bar high as we grow our team.
  • Source and close world-class builders across engineering, customer success, GTM, operations and more.
  • Use our AI recruiter daily, giving Engineering real product feedback and influencing our product roadmap.
  • Build an employer brand that attracts the best in the industry.
  • You’ll start hands-on - sourcing, interviewing, closing - with the opportunity to grow into a leadership role as the company scales.

This role is based in San Francisco.

  • 3-5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with deep expertise sourcing, assessing and closing top tech talent
  • Founder mindset - you thrive in ambiguity, take ownership, and move quickly without waiting for permission
  • Creative approaches to sourcing and building robust recruiting processes
  • Relentless ability to prioritize and deliver results
  • Someone who cares deeply about talent quality and culture fit, not just quotas
  • Someone who believes that AI will fundamentally change how companies hire (and wants to lead in that change)
  • Someone who believes that the strongest relationships are built in person, so you’re energized to spend time alongside our ambitious team in SF

About the interview

Our standard hiring process is short and sweet. We’ll add in additional interviews as necessary/if we’d like you to meet additional team members, but here is what you can expect at a high level:

  1. Interview with Alex, our AI recruiter (30 min)
  2. Technical interview with your future manager, Paige, Operations Lead (30-60 min)
  3. Interview with Aaron, CEO (30-45 min)
  4. Onsite interview - meet the founders, see what it’s like to work at Alex, answer any final questions (1-2 hours)
